Espresso Coffee, which originated in Ethiopia more than a thousand years ago, has had a very particular influence upon mankind. Like wine, coffee was introduced into religious services of the Mohammedans because of its physiological action in dissipating drowsiness. But it was only after the invention of the first mechanical devices during the 18th and 19th centuries, and particularly after the introduction of the first sophisticated machines that could prepare a hot, aromatic beverage anytime during the day, the "express" way, that coffee was really made popular in the Old World. Such "espresso" machines appeared for the first time at the 1906 exhibition in Milan.
From the early invention evolved the beautiful, ornate espresso and cappuccino machine used by Luigi's Italian Gourmet Restaurant, which is still manufactured in Italy and still producing the same rich, authentic espresso and xappuccino.
